a girl’s dream world.
one of my ingredients in picking out a kitchen in a new home for us was that it had a built-in spot for my cookbooks. Most of mine are here, some are at my parent’s home in Florida. I still gather them, seldom paying full price. I love curling up with a good, well-written, plenty of photographs, cookbook and dreaming and salivating over what is in the book.
Rainwood, our new home, has that very thing. That’s sorta how I knew it was the house for us! Thankfully, Sweet Mister agreed!
The top shelf features my recipe box. Once I have perfected a recipe – it goes in there! The Guide to Good Eating is helpful when learning to pick the best olive oils, chocolates, etc and has some tasty recipes.
My favorite on this shelf is Dorie Greenspan’s Baking of course. My newest on this shelf is the Juicing Book. Also, as you’ll see on the right, is a file of recipes I’ve torn out of magazines, been sent by other cooks, etc.
This is my favorite shelf with Bobby Flay, Sara Foster, and Cheryl Day. But, just for sentimentality, my favorite basic cookbook is Betty Crocker’s – given to me by my mentor in 1999 before I moved away to another state.

Last filled shelf for now. The one I am cooking out of most on this shelf is the church cookbook from the church Sweet Mister grew up in. Yummy edibles in there!

I have a cookbook fetish. Just last summer, I went through all of my cookbooks and sold — yes, I said SOLD — a whole lot of them in a garage sale. I still have four shelves of cookbooks and files and boxes. And I always look. I was looking today at another one…..actually kind of drooling over it.
My new favorite right now is called True Food. I just bought it and have been reading through it for the past week. It’s beautiful! Can’t wait to try my first recipe from that book.
Love the new blog!
